UTM link builder

Enter the destination URL and campaign parameters — the tool builds a tracking link with UTM parameters that tells Google Analytics where a visitor came from. Everything runs in your browser.

The link is built in your browser — nothing is sent anywhere.

What UTM parameters are and why to use them

UTM parameters are URL suffixes (?utm_source=…) that tell your analytics which source, campaign and medium a visitor came from. Without them, traffic collapses into “direct” or “referral” and you can’t tell what works. Three are required: source, medium, campaign.

Rules so your data stays clean

Keep casing consistent (lowercase, no spaces — the tool enforces it) so Newsletter and newsletter don’t split into two sources. Measure links on a site you own — you’ll need your own hosting with analytics connected.

Frequently asked questions

Which UTM parameters are required?

Three: utm_source (where, e.g. google), utm_medium (how, e.g. cpc/email) and utm_campaign (the campaign name). Optional are utm_term (PPC keyword) and utm_content (to tell variants apart, e.g. two banners).

Why does it lowercase everything?

Analytics is case-sensitive, so “Email” and “email” would be two different sources. The tool normalizes everything to lowercase and replaces spaces with underscores.

Do UTM links work outside Google Analytics?

Yes — UTM is an open convention read by most analytics tools (Matomo, Plausible and marketing platforms). The link is a plain URL and works everywhere.
